HAPPY BIRTHDAY GERALDO! So his 31th birthday is here. Thank you Jesus. In another time, another age, Geraldo would likely not be alive. He suffered double pneumonia at the tender age of 7 months. But in this modern age, he made it through. Thank God, my husband had insurance at the time. He was attended at the Texas Children's Hospital at the Medical Center. He survived and has lived many fruitful years. He started school at three yrs. old. He was so tiny as he climbed the stairs of the tiny school bus. Not really tiny but about a third of the regular buses. He played with his older brother and two sisters. We lived in a trailer park at the time, and he had a ball with all the kids at the place. My husband and I had a fruitstand at the time. A lady would come pick up Geraldo to take him to a place for infant stimulation. She carried him on her lap as she drove the car a la Ms Spears. This was before children's carseats, etc. This was before he was in school. The belief was that early infant stimulation would help Down Syndrome kids develope physicially as close to their peer group as possible. The one thing that helped Geraldo was the TV program "Soul Train." The rock music would get Geraldo exicited and he'd hold on to something and rock up and down, until one day he started walking.at eighteen months By two years old, he was an expert. Wish him a Happy Birthday.

I have been interested in the Bible for many years. I have been saved by Jesus Christ since the age of eleven. I am now sixty-seven. I did not study the Bible until the birth of my Downs Syndrome son, Geraldo, when I was thirty-five. Only in my LORD could I find comfort and consolation. So, I pray there are like minded souls out there. Leave a comment, no matter if you have positive or negative thoughts about what you read.
